School Days (Poem)
Back to the good old days,
when I was just a child,
when I didn't know how to pace,
long lost times so meek and mild.
And as I grew up,
I just took my first steps,
my parents held me as I stood up,
cared for me when I'd fret.
At the time I went to school,
I knew no one around,
once left, I used to sit by the pool,
listening to loneliness' sound.
Making new friends was easy,
I was no more a lonely guy,
studies made me busy,
as the moments flew by.
That's the place where I've learnt,
both to read and to write,
the place of which I've always dreamt,
and learnt to share every bite.
It's where I gained knowledge,
most of which I don't remember now,
for now I'm a bird out of the cage,
I've learnt to play and to love.
Having a difficult time to cram,
it were exams we feared the most,
wishing we'd still be in our pram,
with a life simply like butter on toast.
Still having many crushes,
wasn't a great crime,
to see the waterfall gushes,
was our greatest pastime.
Bunking class to climb hills,
running through the grassy fields,
school-times were our greatest thrills,
our alma mater and our guild.
Lost someone, found someone else,
together in studies and plays,
in my heart; my friends still dwell,
those were my memorable School Days.
